Details

A unique and innovating coffeemaker for those who enjoy a bit of experimentation with their excellent coffee. By swirling the coffee counterclockwise, the paddles formed in the sides of the ChemAer™ infuse oxygen into the brew, cooling it’s temperature. This is where experimentation begins, because this process changes the way coffee tastes. Try it on all kinds of coffees and roasts, swirl it all you like and watch where your journey ends.

ChemAer™ is the joint development of CHEMEX, Trendglas Jena and four-times Hungarian Barista Champion Attila Molnár. The goal of the project was to create a coffeemaker that offers a new brewing option, allowing anyone to experience the game of flavours.

CHEMEX and ChemAer™ coffeemakers are made from the same high-quality glass that is used for making lab equipment.

  • Allows for the manipulation of coffee after extraction.
  • Used for the aeration of 300-600ml brews, and the preparation of up to 1,2l brews.

Usage

9 easy steps for the preparation of great coffee

  1. Grind

Grind your favourite coffee to a medium coarse ground.

  1. Filter paper

Open a Chemex filter to a conical shape, in a way that leaves one side with 3 layers, than put it on the coffeemaker. The thicker, three-layered side should be over the pouring spot.

  1. Coffee

Place the grounds in the filter, approx. 6g for every 100ml of water you plan to use (example: 30g coffee /500ml water). You can adjust the recipe to your taste.

  1. Steeping

Heat the appropriate amount of water to a boil, then let it cool back slightly. Pour a small amount of water on the coffee ground in a circular motion – in the case of 500ml this would be around 100ml – then let it ”bloom” over approx. 30 seconds.

  1. First pouring

Following steeping pour half of the remaining water on the grounds, in a circular motion.

  1. Steep more

After approx. 1 minute or when the water has flown through the grounds, pour the rest of the water ont he grounds, in a circular motion.

  1. Throw away the filter

After the desired amount of coffee is done, remove the filter from the coffeemaker and throw it out. Chemex filter papers are biodegradable and compostable.

  1. Aerate

Start twirling Chemaer counterclockwise, making sure the coffee does not spill from the coffeemaker. Begin with 5-10 seconds of aeration, and adjust from there. It is possible that it will take more than one brew to find what time fits which coffee beans. The process infuses oxygen into the coffee, changing it’s flavour.

  1. Tasting

Enjoy your freshly brewed coffee.
